Remove Burners and Grates
For gas stovetops, we recommend beginning your cleanup by removing your stove top grates and burner caps. If you have an electric stove you can skip this step. Use a non-abrasive sponge to gently wash the grates and burners in your sink with warm water. For stubborn dirt, combine one part vinegar with two parts baking soda, and add a few drops of dish soap. Apply the mixture to your grates and let it sit for up to 15 minutes. Then, wash it off with warm water and soap and let the grates and burner caps dry.
Wipe Surface With Damp Cloth
Next, clean the surface of your stovetop using a damp cloth to wipe away any food residue on the surface. Get rid of any loose crumbs or dry food residue. And use a soft soapy sponge to remove any grease layers or sticky buildup.
Remove Stubborn Buildup
You can use the same vinegar baking soda mixture that you used on your grates to clean tough dirt buildup on your stovetop surface. Apply the solution over the surface of your stove. Once again, let the mixture sit for up to 15 minutes. For stubborn grease or food buildup, use a non-abrasive sponge to scrub the surface. Make sure you don’t use a metal brush or cleaner as this could damage or scratch your stove top surface. Then, gently wash off the mixture with a soft sponge using warm soapy water.
Dry With a Towel
When you finish, dry the stovetop with a clean cloth. For gas stoves, replace the burner grates and caps. Make sure the cooktop surface is completely dry before you use it again.
