Ovens can often end up being forgotten about in our regular cleaning routines! And when we finally do get around to cleaning it, the task can seem overwhelming. A build-up of food spills, grease, and oils can make you think you’ll never get it all clean. But, don’t panic! April Lane’s Home Cleaning is here to help you clean your oven in four simple steps.
Or, if you want to skip the hassle of cleaning entirely, call us today! Our team of house cleaners can clean your oven for you, so you can get back to cooking without the stress.
Disconnect the oven and remove shelving
First, make sure the oven is cool. Before you begin cleaning, you need to disconnect your oven from the electricity or gas source. Then, remove the shelving from the inside of the oven, including the trays and grills. Place these parts in the sink and wash them with warm soapy water.
Wipe down the oven
After removing the shelving, begin wiping down the sides of the oven. Use a damp cloth to remove any loose food residue or burnt crumbs from inside your oven. You can use a plastic scraper to remove stubborn food. But, make sure you don’t scratch the inside of your oven while scraping. Remove as much of the residue as you can before you apply any oven cleaner.
Spray
Next, it’s time to tackle the dirt. Spray your oven with a cleaning product or solution of your choice. If you’re unsure what cleaner to use, most stoves have recommended cleaning products in their manufacture guide. Cover the entire surface area from top to bottom with the cleaner, including the inside of the door. Make sure you reach every corner. Use a sponge to spread the cleaner evenly. Close the oven and let the cleaner sit for up to 30 minutes. Then, use a wire sponge or bristle brush to begin gently scrubbing your oven.
Wipe Clean
When you’ve finished scrubbing the inside of the oven, use a damp sponge to begin wiping away the cleaner. Make sure you rinse the sponge between wipes so that you aren’t spreading the dirt around. After you remove all dirt and cleaning solution, use a dry cloth to dry the walls of your oven. Don’t forget to check that there’s no cleaning solution left in your oven! This could ruin your food the next time you cook!.
