About Us

In 1987, UW graduate Renee Pascoe O’Brien started a house cleaning company named Student Cleaning. In 1994, single mom April Lane started her own house cleaning company, I Love to Clean.

Then one day, in the summer of 1999, I Love to Clean bought Student Cleaning, taking April out of the field where she’d cleaned for years. She personally trained her growing staff, and moved into the office where she was tasked to learn the business side of cleaning. Learn she did. In 2003, we won the Mayor’s Award for Seattle’s Top 10 Small Businesses of the Year.

In 2004, Student Cleaning officially became April Lane’s Home Cleaning. Because we hire full time employees, most of our staff are no longer students. Besides, what name says “fresh Spring clean” better than “April Lane”?

These days, April continues to be our hands-on leader, overseeing projects and long term company goals. She lives in Edmonds with her two little fluffball kitties, Sophia and Marianna. When not pouring long hours into her favorite passion – the company – April loves to travel and spend time with family.
