How To Cleanup Your Bedroom In 15 Minutes: Your Guide to Housekeeping In-Between Maid Services.
Bedroom
Whether it's yours or your kids, a bedroom is supposed to be a sanctuary, a place where you can lie down at the end of the day and let your worries float away. Instead, our bedrooms often turn into cluttered storage areas where we dare not let anyone enter, let alone peek inside.
So what do we do? How do we clean the mess and still have time for ourselves and our family? An easy way to get the job done would be to call April Lanes House Cleaning and have one of our professional maids do the job. However, if you're in a pinch and need a quick cleaning, here are a few cleaning tips from author Sarah Aguirre. These simple, easy tasks only take 15 minutes and will get your room looking great so you can actually enjoy it!
Here's How:
What You Need:
A basket, bag, or box to put clutter items.
A vacuum cleaner or broom.
A hamper
A trash container
- Grab your supplies. Very few people have the supplies needed to clean their bedroom actually stored there. Sara says that "Gathering all the supplies together before beginning the job will keep you from getting distracted and failing to complete the job."
- Grab all dirty clothing and put it in a hamper.
Remember you are in a hurry, so don't worry about pulling shirts right side out, organizing colors for washing, or unrolling socks. Besides, according to Sarah these tasks are easier to do while sorting the laundry. Right now you are just filling your hamper. So keep it simple and just throw all of the dirty clothes into the hamper as-is. - Next, grab all clean clothes and re-fold or re-hang them. If you have a significant amount of clean clothing lying around waiting to be folded and hung, then skip this step. In the meanwhile place the clean clothing somewhat neatly on your bed after you make it. This will "hold your bed hostage", forcing you to put your clothes away before you get into bed.
- Grab all trash and put it in the trash can. Don't spend countess minutes determining if you're ready to trash old copies of magazines or your husbands holey socks. We're throwing away obvious trash, not sorting through boxes and closets. Sarah says to save the major trash sweep for when you have more time.
- Make the bed.
Yes, we know there is an ongoing debate in most households about whether or not to make the bed. Heck, you are just going to mess it up again in a few hours! But if you've ever been on vacation and stayed in a hotel you know that making the bed creates a less cluttered looking, and therefore inviting, space. By simply making your bed, which is one of the quickest parts of cleaning you room, you can totally change the appearance of your bedroom and the way you feel about it. - Pickup all the misplaced items on the floor, bed, desk, etc. that belong in another room in the house and put them in a basket, box, or bag. Don't try to find the proper place for them or put them back one at a time. Just put them all in one location *for now* and move on.
- Straighten surfaces.
You may have large accumulations of stuff just lying around. Most of this stuff may very well belong in your room but it may not be in its proper place, especially if it has been a long time since you last cleaned your bedroom. Take a brief survey of this "stuff". If you can put it all away in a minute or less, do so. If not, place it all in a container for now and organize it later. This technique clears the clutter and makes the room look more organized. - Put away your supplies
Allow yourself to reflect on how much nicer this briefly cleaned room is. In just under 15 minutes you've cleared the clutter, and made your room a place you can rest in again
